LOW CARBON CONSTRUCTION LABELLING, LEGISLATIONS AND PLANS

 

 

This action will develop a new labelling system for construction materials, according to the sustainability. The goal is to integrate the different criteria existent currently and use the labelling as a compulsory process to compare the construction materials by builders, promoters and public entities.

This action will develop the technical and juridical works needed to introduce the low carbon construction as a new compulsory requirement in the development of architecture in the region’s participant in the project. This action will include the inclusion of technologies developed during the project into the main price databases of the countries participant in the project including environmental information too.

This action will be focus in detect the barriers to introduce natural and recycled construction technologies developing the solutions needed to beat the barriers in the region’s participant in the project. This action will include arrangements with construction companies and suppliers, specific dissemination campaigns, publications, meetings and talks.

This action has the following sub-actions:

B 4.1. Low carbon construction labelling.

This sub-action will be focused on the development of a comprehensive and useful criteria to mark standard and sustainable materials with a label ranking the level of sustainability and carbon footprint of the material. This process will include the development of a database of technologies and materials most used in the regions participant in the project. This database will be public through the website of the project and it will allow to compare different construction solutions, including prize, energy and emissions embodied, water consumption, provenance of material and other indicators developed during the project.

B 4.2. Regional, national and international legislation in low carbon construction.

This sub-action will be focused in the legal and technical works to change, improve or influence in the current construction regulations in the region’s participant in the project. This regulation development will include municipal and regional urban plans where sustainable construction materials criteria will be taken into account.

B 4.3. Introduction of recycled and natural technologies in construction market.

This sub-action will be focused on the introduction of material with low carbon footprint in construction market.

B 4.4. Replicability and transferability.

This sub-action will be focused in the works needed to increase the replicability and transfer of project results and use of them in different regions of EU.
